My Sydney and Soundwave Trip!

recently i went to sydney with the twins and one of their friends for a music festival. i figured i should probz blog about it, as i promised a few people.

so, friday the 20th, we set out. myself, the twins, and their mum. we stopped at newcastle to pick up their friend. i shall call her Bubbles, cause she has a bubbly personality.

the drive down went smoothly, and we listened to Taylor Swift's album. we played Love Story at least 3 times, and the girls tried to convince me that a railbridge next to the highway was the harbour bridge.

once we got to the family friend's place, we were met by the girl's friend (i'll call her the Model cause she look like one) and her mum. it was Model's mum's birthday party that night. so we all got ourselves sorted and got ready for the party. i got to meet a few neighbours.

unfortunately i started to feel sick part way through the party, so i had a shower and went to bed. or at least i tried to. every time i fell asleep someone would make a loud noise and i'd wake up again.

the last time it happened, i woke up to aaron carter's I want candy. so i decided to go downstairs and attempt to be social for a while longer. i was expecting to see the girls dancing, but when my brain kicked in i actually realised it was mostly the older women!!!!

i stayed downstairs for a while and then actually got tired and went to bed. not long after, the girls were ready for bed too.

on saturday we all had a bbq breakfast and sorted ourselves out to go to the city.

we caught the train from blacktown to one of the city stops. and in sydney, the have double decker trains. i was confused..... i'd never seen them before. they were quite awesome though.

once in the city we started looking around at some of the stores. there was a supre one that was at least 3 floors!! it was massive! and they were having a sale so there was new stuff and old stuff.

we went into the queen victoria building and had a look at some of the shops in there. one of which was the Pandora store. all of us were pretty much drooling over half the stuff in there.

we did a lot of walking around in there and i wasn't feeling so great cause i was still slightly sick from the previous night (and i hadn't been drinking either so i dunno what happened) so we stopped and had a quick lunch and a sit down. i bought a bottle of water from maccas and felt a little better after that. of course we ended up going outside again so maybe being in the air helped a lot too.

oh i forgot to mention that we walked past martin place. that's where sunrise is filmed. next time i'm there on a weekday, i'm gonna be one of those dicks who stand behind the hosts and wave stupid signs. and justin agreed to do it too. so we'll see what happens next time i'm there. lol.

anyway, we walked all the way down the other end of the street and suddenly from behind a building, the harbour bridge popped into view.

we crossed a few roads and ended up near the ferries. the arcadia was docked there as well.

the girls stopped to watch one of the street performers (the guy with the ladders. i see it in brisbane everytime i'm there!) so myself and loz started walking towards the opera house. eventually the rest of the girls caught up.
Photobucket

we stopped and took a few pics, in which i didn't try to hide (yeah i'm shocked too). it was a little windy though so my hair looked crap.
Photobucket

we went for a wander up the steps of the opera house and had a look over the far side of the steps. there was a bunch of navy boats, and i even spotted kirribilly house!! w00t!! so don't say i don't appreciate culture. lol.
Photobucket

after we'd had enough fun cracking jokes about the fall out boy concert being moved to the opera house (cause there was a stage being set up near the steps), we went and caught the train to paddy's markets, then back to blacktown so the Model and the Dark twin could get ready for FOB.

Bubbles, the Light twin and myself managed to entertain ourselves while everyone else was out. i had packed my Tipayatung game i bought. it's kinda like SceneIt, but there's no dvd, it's just movie lines, normal quotes, and songs and u have to finish them off. one of the quotes we got was LET'S MAKE LIKE A SHEPARD AND... GET THE FLOCK OUTTA HERE.

we played it about six times. I won once, Light twin won twice i think, and Bubbles won the most. it was a fun game even when u're sober. we were cracking up a lot.

we all went to bed pretty much as soon as everyone else got home.

the next morning we were out of the house by 10am. we got to Eastern Creek and there were already heaps of people. or so i thought. the amount i saw was nothing compared to the amount that were behind us at about 1pm.

after....

it took us 3 hours to get 150m and past the entry gate.
Photobucket
(this was after about 2 hours)

as a result i missed seeing my fave band perform, but I DID get to meet them at the signing tent later, and they were the sweetest kids ever. so tiny. such great smiles. like they were honestly happy to meet all their fans.

i got separated from the girls a few times at different points, but found each other again almost as quickly. we had our phones and whatnot.

the basic summary of that day's events are as follows...

1pmish - finally made it past the gate. i went and got my shirt signed by madina lake and got autographs for justin as well. then went back and found the girls sitting on the hill between stages 1 and 2.
1.40 - watched the subways on stage 2.
2.15 - watched forever the sickest kids on stage 1, and i actually enjoyed them. i must go look for them on myspace.
2.50 - listened to a bit of underoath, then went for a walk. just as i walked off, they played the 1 song i was waiting for!! walked past stage 3 where Saves the day were playing. got back to stage 2 just after underoath finished, the girls had moved way forward to get ready for red jumpsuit.
3.30 - i wandered over to stage 3 again to see hellogoodbye, but i got bored and went back to stage 2 and leant against the fence and watched anberlin on stage 1 (stages 1 and 2 were right next to each other).
4pm - red jumpsuit started and i was actually in a decent spot. could see them better than my camera made it look like.
4.40 - went and sat in the first aid tent for a bit cause there was no shade where i had waited for red jumpsuit. sometime after that i went looking for the girls and ended up sitting in the shade tent up from stages 1 and 2.
5.20 - bloodhound gang started on stage 2 and i could hear them play, but couldn't see as teh booze tent was in the way. some of their between song banter was actually quite comical. i went and found the girls sitting near stage 3. we listened to either funeral for a friend or rival schools. i can't remember. from here things kinda get a little hazy for me.
all i remember is waiting for new found glory, then as soon as they started, i got pushed, squashed, tripped, knocked flat on my back, stepped on, i remember getting kicked in the head, i curled up into a ball and prayed i didn't lose my phone which was in my pocket at the time, i remember kicking people, and i vaguely remember 2 sets of hands reaching down and grabbing my wrists and hauling me off the ground. i eventually managed to push my way out of the crush, found the girls, and started shaking and not quite breathing very well and feeling lightheaded, so i went straight up the hill to the first aid tent. the really cute guy looked at me and asked if i was ok and all i could do was shake my head and i nearly collapsed right in front of him. he grabbed me and put me on a chair and gave me water (which i them spilled on myself, i was shaking that much) and another cute guy came over and took care of me. he strapped my knee and ankle, and made me laugh cause he was telling me all about how to anchor the bandage so it doesn't move up or down, yadda yadda yadda.
i remember his name was will young. lol. i think he called the other guy simon.

i was in the tent for a while that time. i messaged the girls to let them know where i was and after i felt a little better i went out to find them, but they had come up to find me. by this time it was about 9pm i think. or sometime close to that. we wandered (or in my case, hobbled) over to stage 6, which was waaaaaay over the other side, and sat down to wait for From First To Last.
Photobucket

as soon as they finished we got up and left via the southern entry (right next to us). we had to walk all the way around to where we got dropped off (near the northern entry). pretty much as soon as we got in the car and settled i fell asleep. i woke up twice. once on the highway somewhere, and once just at the lights near the twin's home.

even though there was a lot of negative stuff that happened at soundwave, i would defs do it again next year. especially now that i know what to expect, and what to do and where to go.

the good parts were really really good. we even started chatting to randoms while in line. and the crowd started the bullshit/boring chant like at the cricket. it was great. i wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like crowds or waiting in long lines, or paying too much for things (i had to pay $2 just to get something signed, and i paid $7 for a hotdog with cheese, but at 9pm when u've had almost nothing to eat all day, u'd pay $100 for it. and it actually tasted good and it was hot!!!!!).

it took a lot out of me, but it's definately an experience!!
